South West Ontario Winter Lacrosse League

Week 2 Recap

On a much chillier January night the fans were not only warmed by some hot Timmies there were also treated to history in the making.

In the early game, a shortened bench of the Blue Lizard Productions Wolves (0-2) managed to lead for most of the contest until a late charge by theAlpine Roof Services Bucks (2-0) made a late charge. A late couple of markers by the Bucks pushed this game to OT and the SWOLL's first ever shootout. In the shootout, Bucks goalieAndrew Chenier shut the door allowing the Bucks shooters to do their thing and take the win. Congrats to Nathan Joyes who was the Lacrosse Savage player of the game from the Bucks.

The late game saw the Jukebox Lacrosse Falcons (0-2) taking on the Lacrosse Savage / ZRW Restoration & Waterproofing Inc Bull Dogs (2-0). The Bull Dogs were fast out of the gate and amassed a lead early and kept building on it as the Dogs take this one in a lopsided affair 10-3. Congrats to Shawn Murray who took the player of the game award courtesy of Lacrosse Savage with his stellar performance between the pipes.

The Bull Dogs and Bucks remain undefeated and will headline the evening next Wednesday in the late game. In the early match the Falcons and Wolves will battle it out to see who gets that elusive first win and who moves to 0-3 on the season.

Thanks again to all of those who donated food toThe Food Bank of Waterloo Region drive and congrats to Mark Borghese and the Borghese clan who took home the Velocity Lacrosse tickets.

Stats and Fantasy standings will be uploaded later today.
