Week 4 - 2025
The players braved the frigid temperatures at Queensmount Arena, with the mercury dipping to a bone-chilling -10 degrees Celsius! Despite the cold, the action on the field was hot, as the Falcons took on the Wolves in a game that saw a few surprises.
Game 1 - Falcons vs Wolves
The Falcons, with their high-flyers back in the lineup, soared to an early lead. However, they were missing their captain, Taylor Best, who was sidelined due to injury. The first period ended with the Falcons holding a 6-3 advantage, proving they could still maintain their aerial attack.
The Wolves, though, showed their resilience. They clawed their way back into the game, keeping pace with the Falcons but ultimately couldn't quite close the gap. The Falcons held on for a 10-8 victory, securing their second win of the season while the Wolves remained winless.
Game 2 - Muskies vs Polars
The Muskies and Polars served up a thrilling, nail-biting game in a battle for first place that had the crowd on the edge of their seats! The Muskies, with their signature aggressive play, started strong, building a commanding lead early on. It seemed as if the fish were about to swim away with the victory.
However, the Polars unleashed a powerful counterattack, led by the unstoppable duo of Kent Radbourne (6g) and Brady Doxator (4g). Their determination and skill allowed them to storm back and seize a 12-10 lead in the late stages of the third period.
The Muskies, refusing to be outdone, mounted a furious comeback of their own. Sean Campbell and David Deveau scored two quick goals with 2:30 left in the game, tying the score and igniting the crowd.
The final minutes were filled with high-intensity play. The Polars, determined to force overtime, won the faceoff and called a timeout, moving the ball down the field to try and get a shot on goal. They had two attempts, but both fell short of the mark. The whistle blew with 2 seconds left on the clock, the Polars still holding possession. They made one last desperate push, but the Muskies' defence stood firm, securing a dramatic victory in what is shaping up to be a legendary rivalry.
This win not only catapults the Muskies to the top of the standings but also sends a powerful message: They are a force to be reckoned with, and the championship race just got a whole lot more interesting!
