South West Ontario Winter Lacrosse League

Week 8 - 2025

With a blizzard starting to pour down, it was a lightly attended evening of Men's Winter Lacrosse this week, but the games counted towards the standings nonetheless!

GAME 1 FALCONS vs MUSKIES

The Falcons, despite their last-place standing, showed up in full force, energized by a desperate need for a victory. On the other side, the Muskies, hampered by the weather and a depleted roster, seemed to have been caught off guard.

The Falcons, capitalizing on the Muskies' smaller numbers, took full advantage, scoring early and often with a balanced attack. Even Captain Taylor Best, usually a defensive stalwart, got in on the scoring, notching two goals!

The Muskies, despite being outnumbered, fought valiantly, showing their trademark grit and determination. However, the Falcons, fired up and playing with a renewed sense of purpose, were too much to handle.

The final score of 15-4 reflected the Falcons' dominant performance. The Muskies, though disappointed with the outcome, will need to regroup and find a way to overcome the challenges they faced.

This game serves as a reminder that anything can happen in this league. The Falcons, despite their record, proved that they are still a capable team, and they could be a dangerous opponent if they can maintain this level of play. The Muskies, on the other hand, will need to find a way to rally and regain their footing if they want to stay in the race for the championship.

GAME 2 - POLARS vs WOLVES

The Wolves, known for their short benches, were even more shorthanded this week, while the first-place Polars were also missing a few players. This created a slower, more deliberate pace of play, which, to the Wolves' advantage, suited their style.

The Wolves, with their gritty determination, were able to capitalize on the slower pace, effectively controlling the flow of the game and limiting the Polars' scoring opportunities.

The final score of 8-4 reflected the Wolves' well-executed game plan. They took advantage of the Polars' limited numbers and played a smart, disciplined game.

This victory gives the Wolves a chance to make a significant jump in the standings. With a win over the Muskies next week, they could potentially leapfrog into first place and make a serious run for the Snell Cup!

The Polars, despite the loss, will be looking to rebound and maintain their position at the top of the league. This game served as a reminder that even the league's top teams can be vulnerable when facing a determined opponent.

With the final regular season game coming up, the stage is set for a dramatic finish. The battle for the Snell Cup is far from over!
