South West Ontario Winter Lacrosse League

Week 8 Recap

We would have to agree that last night at the Queensmount was one of the most exciting nights of the season thus far.

In the opening tilt a birth in the Snell Cup was on the line for the  Bucks (5-3) as a win would put them in the final game. The Wolves had other ideas and were on fire on this night and snuffed out the hopes of the Bucks to be able to coast into week 9 having already punched their ticket to the cup. The Wolves take this one by a final score of 10-8.
In game two it was a pleasant surprise for all (except the Bull Dogs) as the Falcons had undoubtedly their best game of their season. Coming off a near miss in week 7 the Falcons (1-7) could feel that victory was close at hand. The Falcons speed and desire to win coupled with a lacklustre effort by the Bull Dogs (6-2) spelled success and victory for the red shirts. The final in this one was 6-4 for the Falcons earning them their first win of the season. Way to go Birds!
Week 9 will mean that both games still have meaning as the Wolves need a win and Bucks loss to set up a Wolves/Bull Dogs final. The Bucks hold their own fate in their hands and could march to the final Sunday game with a win and snuff out any hopes by the Wolves to play for the championship. Should be an exciting week of lacrosse!
